Ears Weren't Meant to Hold That Much
Phil and Olivia DeJong, Colorado inventors
If you or someone you love depends on supplemental oxygen, you already know the routine. Cannula in, tubing over the ears, clip behind the head. It works - technically. But after a few hours, those ears start to pay the price.
The tubing sits on top of the ear all day long. For many oxygen users, that means soreness that builds slowly and never fully goes away. Redness. Skin breakdown. The kind of low-grade discomfort that's easy to overlook until it isn't.
Phil and Olivia DeJong of Colorado developed the SureKlip O2 Cannula Retainer - a small clip that changes where the tubing sits. Instead of looping over the ears, the cannula routes under them. The SureKlip clips onto one side of the tubing and holds the other side behind the head, keeping everything secure without any pressure on the ears. The fit is snug enough to stay in place, but the design is forgiving - the tubing connects behind the head with a bit of give, so there's no pinching or pulling as the wearer moves through the day.
- The ear irritation goes away. Ears are already doing plenty - holding glasses, wearing masks, bearing the weight of daily life. Removing the cannula tubing from the top of the ear eliminates a friction point that shouldn't be there in the first place.
- The cannula stays put better. Routing the tubing behind the head creates a more stable anchor point than looping over the ear alone. Less shifting, less adjusting throughout the day.
- Tubing drops out of the line of sight. It's a small thing - but for someone wearing a cannula for eight, ten, or twelve hours a day, not having tubing in the corner of your vision matters.
- Prototype tested and validated. Phil DeJong put the SureKlip in front of people across the medical industry, as well as everyday oxygen users. Every single person responded positively.
- Ready for commercial partnership. A patented invention with a working prototype - available for manufacturing, retail, distribution, or licensing.
That kind of response doesn't happen by accident. It happens when a product solves a real problem in a way that's immediately obvious to anyone who sees it.
The SureKlip O2 Cannula Retainer is ready for the market. The DeJongs are looking for the right partners - manufacturers, retailers, distributors, or licensees - to bring it to the people who need it. Contact For Sale By Inventor at 800-860-0969 or develop@forsalebyinventor.com to learn more.
